Are you looking for an outing for your group that’s a little bit special? We are delighted to host visitors on our farm in Frettenham, just north of Norwich, for a farm tour with a difference. There’s plenty of information on this website about what we do here at Church Farm, or you can drop us a line to find out more about how we can offer an outing for your group that’s a little bit special. CLASS BASED LESSONS
Calling all teachers! Need something a bit different for this half-term? Its a long one too. Let me help! As well as hosting school visits here at Church Farm, I can also offer lessons in school too – from mozzarella cheese demonstrations to making flower bombs! Email me on firstname.lastname@example.org for details…
We are CEVAS accredited, which means that transport grant support for your trip may be available from the Clan Trust. Please contact us for details.
WHATS ON OFFER?
We can offer a full tour of our mixed dairy and arable farm, taking in our dairy cows, calves, the milking parlour, tractors, machinery. We tailor the tour to meet your individual learning objectives and there are lots of opportunities to make curriculum links. Need inspiration? Check out http://www.face-online.org.uk/, which has masses of inspiration for ideas for your school trip.
We have plenty of areas under cover if the weather is not so good and we can provide a goody bag to take away at the end of the visit. Themed activities can include a butter or cheese making demonstration, talks on healthy eating, food production, or farming and the countryside in general. In terms of facilities, we make the most of our local Village Hall as the base for the tours, which has good toilet and handwash facilities allowing groups a longer trip including a lunchbreak.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ve hosted everyone from pre-schoolers to Scouts, a whole year group to a food technology class, and foodies to food research scientists. We will tailor the tour to suit the group. The tour can be as educational or as fun as you’d like to make it – kids and grown-ups alike love to see the animals and machinery, but it is also a great opportunity to find out about milk, farming and the countryside around us. We charge a small fee per visitor for a tour of around 1 hour 30 mins (longer visits and tastings available by arrangement), and, of course, we have a full risk assessment available.
